The Rules
- Supported Games: Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars only.
- Each mapper can submit as many entries as (s)he wish. All entries must be received until the last second of September 3rd, 2007 (on Greenwich Time Zone). Any maps received afterward will be disqualified from winning, but may receive honorable mention. If a submitted map is revealed or available to public before the results be revealed, it will also get disqualified. Judges and organizer must not submit maps. For further submission information, check Submit Your Map section.
- Maps must be multiplayer/skirmish only. The map must be functional once it's submited. AI must work and the map must not be symmetrical in terms of terrain, tiberium and/or tech buildings. Starting locations must not have the following symmetry: four corners, four sides, circular ring or 1vs1 with exact oposite sides. For further info on the symmetry rules, check its special section.
- Maps must be made from scratch and must not be available or have early versions available in public places, neither have screenshots revealed in public forums and sites. Maps must not be sent to any webmaster or anyone for any reason! Remember: maps must be judged anonymously.
- Map file must not require any other files, except minimap pictures, and custom textures.
- Any unit and faction changes in the map file itself must be miniscule and non-gameplay affecting, such as renaming civilian buildings. Any modding change that affects the gameplay will be disqualified.
- Advanced scripting/triggering systems are allowed but will not be judged on complexity but ONLY on the effect they lend to the map; if included they will be judged in an entirely seperate category from the map design itself, but the ultimate decision of how to allocate points for triggers is left up to the judges and no one else.
- By submitting a map to the Open Map Competition, you automatically agree that all sites and forums in the C&C Community and Electronic Arts may mirror your map separatelly or in a package as long as you are credited for your work. You also allow the possibility of distribution of your map on C&C3 Kane's Wrath (expansion pack) with no costs for Electronic Arts, unless otherwise stated in the readme file of your map or in an email sent to omc[at]cnccommunity[dot]net.
- The main prize for winning is the honor of being deemed worthy of the title of Best Map Maker in the community of Command & Conquer 3, among the participating sites. Your map may also be featured on C&C 3 Kane's Wrath and it will be spotlighted on many sites. You will also receive several other prizes. For more info check Prizes Information.

The Reviews
The way judges will rate maps nearly in the same way they did in last Open Map Competition, except that there are some internal guideliness to follow, but these won't be revealed to public.
- (20%) Original Concept: The layout is rated by originality. Maps with realistic environments may get much more points than maps that tends to be symetrical.
- (15%) Balance: The judge rates if there are any imbalances of resources, player positions, and the amount of space to build bases. Note: Misuse of civilian/neutral buildings may cause major loss of points in this section.
- (30%) Eyecandy: The judge rates the details of the map, lighting, textures, map errors, cliff errors and also some other cute things.
- (20%) Fun Factor: The judge rates the fun factor, replayability, game speed, and AI behavior. If you send a map with a black minimap and bad camera settings, you'll loose some points here.
- (15%) Scripts: The judge rates the available scripts on two things: if the scripts really work and how the scripts affect gameplay on the map. Avoid broken scripts as they may cut you some points.
So, this is how the new system works. Work carefully on your map, make it detailed and test it. Good luck and success!
