CnCNet version 2 just reached open beta. CnCNet v2 is now open for everyone to test!
Main features of CnCNet v2 are: - Faster speeds - Command & Conquer support - Red Alert support - Tiberian Sun support - Better routing support - Linux compatibility
Users of the old CnCNet will have to disable their clients as the old CnCNet client are no longer in use and will not update to the latest version!
To play on CnCNet please read the setup guide, as CnCNet v2 is still in beta some problems may occur, you will have to update your files regularly.
What is CnCNet CnCNet is an open source unofficial (as in not supported by EA) service created by Command & Conquer fans. This service allows you to play Command & Conquer, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun online through the network functions of the games.
CnCNet allows you to play "network" games over the Internet. CnCNet uses peer to peer (p2p) technology to connect games on CnCNet together. For games to be smooth we recommend that you play with players on your own continent, but if you don't mind some lag a European player can play with a US player. But try to avoid extremes as a Canadian player playing with someone from New Zealand, because that will have extreme lag! So basically the closer the players are the better.
CnCWorld have conducted an interview with Derek328, the mod manager of C&C 2142 is a modification for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars set in the Battlefield universe which throws the player forward to the year 2142 where a new Ice Age has humanity once again fighting for survival. The interview covers topics such as an introduction to the mod team, how the Battlefield units integrate with a C&C engine, and most importantly, a possible release date!

The Global Defence Initiative launched a raid on what appear's to be a Nod Supply Base a possible staging area for one of the many Nod splinter faction's. The proximity to nearby GDI force's prompted "A Direct Response" as quoted from the GDI Commander who gave the order. The GDI used this occasion to do their first combat strike with the newest development in the ORCA series of Aircraft, the ORCA Bomber. We managed to obtain Satellite Imagery of the Carpet Bombing assault on this Nod Base.
General Hassan himself commissioned the new deployment of Nod's latest technology in Tiberium Harvesting, Not much is yet known about the specifics of this new deployment but Nod has been known to be at the cutting edge of Technological Development regarding Tiberium.
Lastly, strange sightings from the civilian population in a number of locations have reported a new breed of "Tiberium Creature". Often witnessed hunting in packs they appear quite intelligent and have the ability to hunt & track their prey. Witness's claim to have seen some Fiend's launching what appears to be Tiberium crystals as projectile weapon's but this has been met with scepticism from experts. GDI has advised civilians to stay indoors while this sighting is being investigated, a composite sketch of what is being called the 'Tiberium Fiend' has been drawn up by our concept artist Joshua Wright.
CnCWorld have conducted an interview with Kerensky287, the lead coder for RA3 total conversion Red Alert 3: Paradox. The mod features an impressive 5 new factions as well as additional units for the existing factions. The campaign is set in the aftermath of Red Alert 3 the war-torn world is fractured and divided into numerous factions maintaining an uneasy ceasefire.

CD : Please describe Red Alert 3: Paradox , what are the main goals of the mod? Kerensky287 : The main goals revolve around making the gameplay as varied as possible. We're more than tripling the number of units available in the game and tweaking the existing ones to try and make them more viable or less dominating. It's our hope that by the time we're done, you won't just have 3 or 4 "build orders" that you follow from the start of the game - there will be enough units and factions that no matter how you like to play, you will occasionally be able to succeed if you are smart enough, efficient enough, or... whatever your plan revolves around.

Firstly, give us a brief introduction about Morpher. who is Morpher and what is your role in Tiberian Oddyssey?

So Gangster, what made you mod Red Alert 2?
Gangster:
well, I love CnC Generals, TS and RA2. So i have spent a lot of time playing them. I can't really say what exactly was it that made me want to mod RA2, but the Community have provided me a lot of tools plus, i have have some skills already, so i started helping other mods like Exodus and Tiberian Odyssey, and later, I decided to do something by my own.
Over @ CnCWorld I have just published an interview with Blbpaws, the mod manager of C&C3: The Forgotten, a modification for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars which tells the story of a neglected faction of humans featured in Tiberian Sun, but were marked by their absence from C&C3. They are 'The Forgotten'; a race of mutated humans afflicted by the Tiberium infestation.
The C&C Labs team are keen to create a credible faction with a powerful driving storyline. So in this interview I can exclusively reveal a new story artefact; a journal entry from the former intelligence partner of the main character 'Raven Hades' (read the fifth question).
EA's freeware release was a pain to install. It was comprised of a Tiberian Sun folder directly copied from The First Decade. It also had a bunch of batch files and registry files people had to install.
This caused a lot of confusion, that left many people with nothing but a broken game.
What this installation program does: - Installs the Westwood Shared Internet Components (optional) - Installs a few extras; Map Editor, Manuals, Icons - Installs the themepacks (optional) - Applies the LAN patch - Automatically applies registry entires - Downloads and installs the videos (optional) - Installs the game itself (obviously)
Tested and works flawlessly on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 7 64-bit!

Over at CnCWorld I have been working away on the Tiberian Twilight section of the site and I'm pleased to say it is now complete! To access it, head over to CnCWorld, click "TIBERIAN TWILIGHT" on the left menu and then select one of the sub-sections.
There are two main features; first the traditional unit and structure information pages which we have for every game. This time they're far more informative; not only are there the portraits, cost and description of its abilities, but also the weapon and armour type - essential information for the new hard counter system.
Secondly Alex06 and some buddies have been doing some digging around the in beta test files and have come across some interesting still pictures from the full motion videos that we will be watching very soon. So for a sneak peak at those head over to our C&C4 Beta Test FMVs gallery. I've done my best to speculate which characters are being shown in the pictures, but we won't know for sure until next week!
